Faye was born to Harold (Smiley) Lafayette and Venera (Vera) Eulalie Smith on August 16th, 1936. While her family was stationed with the US Army in Japan, Faye met Vernon Roy Beinke and they were subsequently married in Columbus, GA. As an Army Jump Master at Fort Benning, GA, Smiley helped Vern secure a few extra paratrooper jumps which earned the young family enough extra jump pay to purchase furniture for their first home together in Columbus, GA. Much of that furniture is still owned by family members. Faye is survived by her children, Dona, Ali (Tom), Jeff (Denise) and Jonathan (Laura) . Faye is also survived by her siblings Dororthy "Dodie" Petro and LtC. (retired) Vern "Buddy" Smith as well as five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and extended family.
A service will be held for Faye at 2:00 PM on Thursday February 10th, 2022 with a visitation starting at 1:00 PM at Poole Funeral Home in Woodstock, GA. Attendees will be celebrating Fayes life with some of her favorite music including Swing Low Sweet Chariot, Amazing Grace, and Ill Fly Away. Faye will be interred at the Georgia National Cemetery along with her husband on Friday February 11th. In lieu of gifts or flowers, please consider making donations to organizations that Faye supported such as St. Judes, Wounded Warriors, or the charity of your choice.
