Flora Velasco Spence, age 96, went from death to eternal life on the morning of Saturday, October 4, 2025.
Born on April 27, 1929, Flora lived a long and full life grounded in faith, family, and love. She proudly served as Clerk of DeKalb County Courts, a role that reflected her integrity and work ethic. Whether calling her family on the phone daily, watching her grandchildren, or gathering loved ones around her table, she created a foundation of strength, grit, and faith that continues through the generations she leaves behind.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Spence; her four siblings, including her twin sister, Bernice Covig; her niece, Diana B. Sigal; and her grandson, Clinton B. Spence.
Flora is survived by her loving children Janette (Don), Susan (Steve), Jerry (Etta), and Randy (Nancy); seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who adored her deeply.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Transfiguration Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with a reception to follow at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Day.
Flora was a devoted member of Transfiguration Catholic Church, where she faithfully watched services online and deeply cherished Father Eric and his ministry.
Flowers may be sent to Janette or Susan’s residences. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Transfiguration Catholic Church in honor of her enduring faith and generosity, supporting the chapel expansion she was so excited about.
