

Floyd H. Garner, born on February 27, 1930, in East Point, Georgia, peacefully passed away in his sleep on November 29, 2024. Floyd was a dedicated and loving family man, devoted member of his church, and a respected member of his community.
He is survived by his son, Gary C. Garner; his grandson, Zack (Charlotte) Garner; and granddaughters Lindsay Garner, Whitney (Matt) Hiers, and Ashley (Drew) Murphy. Floyd was preceded in death by his beloved bride of 69 years, Carolyn (Claxton), and their son, Gregory Lynn.
Floyd was a devoted church member at the Church of Christ in East Point, Kirkwood, Hillcrest, Conyers, Lithonia, and Woodstock. Floyd and Carolyn were active participants in their church, sharing the word of the Lord with many throughout their years of service to Christ. Their faith and commitment to their church community were an inspiration to many.
Floyd proudly served his country in the Army and was honorably discharged. His service and sacrifice were a testament to his strong sense of duty and patriotism.
In addition to his military service and church dedication, Floyd was a beloved baseball coach for many years. He shared his passion for the sport with countless young athletes, fostering a love of the game and teaching valuable life lessons on and off the field.
Floyd and Carolyn were devout Atlanta Braves baseball fans who often followed the team to Spring Training in Florida in their trusty motorhome, creating cherished memories along the way.
Floyd's legacy of love, faith, and service will be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 at 11 AM in the chapel of Poole Funeral Home with Minister Matt Amos officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 10 until 11 AM at the funeral home.
Interment will be Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 10 AM at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Blvd, Canton, GA 30114.
