

Franklyn Badia, 32, passed away on December 11, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born in the Bronx, New York, and raised in Greenacres, Florida, and Woodstock, Georgia, Franklyn was a loving father, devoted son, brother, cousin, and friend. He spent most of his adult life in Colorado Springs, which he proudly called home. As a child, he spent summers in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, creating cherished memories that stayed with him throughout his life.
Franklyn served honorably in the United States Army from 2012 to 2018, reaching the rank of Sergeant. As an Infantryman, he deployed to Afghanistan from March to November 2014 in support of combat operations. During his service, he was awarded two Army Commendation Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, and the NATO Medal. He was widely respected by the Soldiers in his unit, who often mentioned his natural leadership and ability to guide and support those around him. His dedication, leadership, and sense of duty were a source of pride to both his family and his fellow Soldiers.
Beyond his military service, Franklyn had a remarkable ability to make others feel at ease. He was known for his kindness, his humor, and the joy he brought to every room. He had a unique gift for making people laugh and always knew how to lift the spirits of those around him. There was never a dull moment with him, and his warmth and positivity will be deeply missed. He was deeply loved by his family and friends. Franklyn cherished his family, friends, and animals, and enjoyed music, skateboarding, playing video games, and embracing life’s simple pleasures.
Franklyn is survived by his daughter, Alani Badia; his parents, Cruz Maria Florentino de Badia and Franklyn Badia; his sister, Franchesca Badia; along with extended family members and many dear friends who will forever miss him.
A memorial service will be held at Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services on December 21, 2025, at 1970 Eagle Dr, Woodstock, GA 30189, starting at 1:00 PM EST. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the GoFundMe created by the family: served with honor, lived with courage, and will be remembered with great love.
