Gerald was a native of Spartanburg, SC and was a loving husband, father, son, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to a countless number of people.
He was a US Navy Korean War Veteran who was decorated with the Korean Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal amongst others. He built a career as a machinist through the Navy and ultimately carried his talents to AT&T where he had retired.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 201 in Alpharetta for over 40 years where he held various positions up to and including Commander multiple times. Much of his time was spent volunteering to the American Legion, it was essentially a full time job at different points in his life. He loved the Sons of the American Legion and what they stood for. He was a proud member and very dedicated to doing everything he could to help it run efficiently on all levels.
Gerald is preceded in death by his wife, Camellia "Nini" Lynch; daughter, Muriel Lynch; parents, Hesley and Mae Lynch; siblings, Beverly E. Lynch, Carroll R. Lynch, Dwight D. Lynch, Aubrey B. Lynch, and Donald E. Lynch. He is survived by his son, Mark Lynch of Ardmor, AL; daughter, Monti Hansard and her partner, Mitchell Minter, of Marietta, GA; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and many cousins, nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
A Memorial Service will be held in Mr. Lynch's honor at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 11th, 2017 at Woodstock Funeral Home with Danny Philpot of the American Legion officiating.
