Gloria was born on September 16, 1942 to the late Rev. Norman Emmett Tyler and late Mary Jane Barnhill and was raised in Loris, SC.
Gloria was a retired CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and spent most of her career as Director in Management with the Perot Healthcare Systems of Plano, TX.
Gloria, (Preachers Daughter), came to know the Lord, Jesus Christ, as her personal Savoir at a young age and became a member of the Cane Branch Baptist Church. Due to her extensive travels, she knew many pastors over the years and made her last home church at Burnt Hickory Baptist Church. She was very dedicated to her family and to her church. Gloria aspired with all her heart to give herself to serve God, family, community and vocation with the upmost love, care, encouragement, and self-giving.
Gloria anticipated going home to be with the Lord as she prepared early in life for the moment and lived expecting that Christ would honor His words in John 14:3, “I will come again and receive you (Gloria) into me (Jesus) so that where I am (in Heaven) – there you may be also." This promise was brought to fulfillment when Gloria slipped away to be in the presence of the Lord after a long battle of cancer to His eternal home – away from pain, suffering and weariness. Gloria’s final estate is eternity with the Lord who so loved her and whom Gloria dearly loved and served.
She leaves her sister, Mary Pearl Shelly of Loris, SC; brother, Ronald Emmett Tyler and wife Harriet Pat Tyler of Hickory, NC; son, Jeffery Lee Taylor and wife Sandra Mena Taylor of Santee, CA; daughter, Christina Taylor Polcyn and husband Donald K. Polcyn, Sr. of Dallas, GA; stepsons, Robert H. Speer, Sr; brothers, Hoyt Elwood Tyler, Larry Ray Tyler and Michael Wendell Tyler; son, Marcus Alan Taylor; and grandson-in-law, James Robert Arias, III.
