Greg will be remembered for being a supportive and loving father, grandfather, and husband. Always there to support his children, Greg made his family’s passions his own and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on. When not spending time with his family, Greg worked diligently to protect and care for the environment. As a member of the Southeastern Emergency Regional Response Unit, he helped with hurricane relief efforts and cleaning up oil spills before retirement.
He began channeling his passion for the environment early, working in the typing pool at the Bureau of Land Management in Anchorage, Alaska where he met the love of his life, Lisa. Together, they moved around before finally settling in Georgia where they nurtured their family and home. He eventually retired as Regional Officer for the Office of Environmental Policy and Compliance to spend time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Gregory’s love of fly fishing often brought him home to the Rocky Mountains where he could enjoy time in the nature he worked so hard to protect with his son, brother, nephews and father. He was never able to go as often as he wanted but he also loved to ice fish. Greg was always ready with a witty and humorous remark. He’ll be remembered for his generous and loving heart and for the ways he made our world and the many lives he touched better.
Gregory is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Myrtle Hogue, and his brother, George Hogue.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Hogue; children, Rebecca (David) Palombo, Alec (Amanda) Hogue, and Rachel (Kain) Hogue; granddaughter, Harper and bonus grandsons Wesson and Waylon; brother, Kerry (Martha) Hogue; and beloved nieces and nephews, in-laws, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 1815 Blackwell Rd, Marietta, GA 30066 on Thursday, October 22nd at 11am with a reception to follow. The family requests you wear your favorite band/music/tour t-shirt in memory of Greg.
