

Mr. Gurney Talmadge Jarvis, 81, of Gainesville, GA, formally of Marietta, passed away on February 24, 2019. Gurney was born on November 9, 1937 in Wilkesboro, NC to the late Quince and Emma Jarvis. After high school, Gurney joined the United States Air Force and honorably served as a mechanic on the Thunderbirds. After his service, he enjoyed a career with Volkswagen in various positions. He enjoyed fishing and golfing, but nothing brought him more joy than being with his family. Gurney was a devoted father and grandfather and a doting PopPop to his great-grandchildren. He loved big and fully. Gurney is going to be deeply missed by his family and friends. Gurney leaves behind his daughters, Julie Farr (Barry) of Gainesville, GA and Cyndi Poole (Tom) of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren, Greg Poole (Vanessa), Brittany Hilbert (Ian), David Poole (Anne), Tyler Farr and Alex Farr; great-grandchildren, Giovanna Poole, Mia Hilbert, Norah Poole and Wyatt Hilbert and brother, Don Jarvis. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jarvis; son, Gregg Jarvis; and grandson, Jonathan Poole. A funeral service to celebrate Gurney’s life will be on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park, Marietta. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12-2pm. In lieu of flowers, please do something to show your love big for a family member, friend or stranger.
