Halcia McGirt McLary

Halcia, otherwise known as “Mom”, “Mamaw”, “Grandmama”, “Gigi”, and “Mrs. Chief”, was born in Albany, Ga to the late WD and Halcia McGirt. She married James “Jim” McLary in 1956 and they were together over 58 years. She served our country as a military wife for 28 years. She was very active with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s lives. She loved her church family, UMW, and worked in her church’s preschool for many years. Her favorite hobbies were gardening, birds, and her aquarium.

She is Survived by her son, James (Edith) McLary, Jr; daughter, Anne (Ricky) Hall; daughter, Fran (Jackie) Blackwell; grandchildren, Jennifer (Clay) Rushing, Jamie (Jordan) Moss, Corey (Lauren) Hall, and Lindsey (Wesley) Garner; great-grandchildren, Cayden, Jack, Carson, Lyla, Henley, Hunter, Zoey, Madelyn, Hadley, Lucy, Parker; sister, Pat Joffrion; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by husband James “Jim” McLary, Sr; parents, WD and Halcia McGirt; and brother in law, Doug Joffrion.

Funeral services will be at Bascomb United Methodist Church on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 4:00 pm with family visitation 2:00 - 4:00 pm at the church.
