Mr. Harry “Joe” Hames, age 66, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018. Joe was born on June 15, 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Harold and Frances Hames.

Joe was a good man, son, brother and friend. He never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone he came across. In 1969 he graduated from Cherokee High School. After high school, he had several different jobs that peaked his interest. He started off at Everett Seed Company working with his father. Joe then moved into law enforcement and eventually became Chief of Police in Woodstock, Georgia. Joe then spent twenty years with Scott Exterminating Company. For the last several years Joe has worked in medical transportation, most recently at Choice Transportation.

Joe’s favorite hobby was golf, which he enjoyed playing with many friends as often as he could. He enjoyed good food and dinners with friends at restaurants throughout Georgia. He especially liked bar-be-que. Joe was an old movie buff and an ardent fan of TCM. Joe loved to make people laugh. His sense of humor was immeasurable. He was always telling jokes, even if he was the only one laughing at them. Joe always wanted to see a smile on everyone’s face.

We are so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I have a lot of good memories of going to Bible school, playing baseball, and going to school with Joe.
I knew the family all my life.
