Helen Murray Duncan, aged 83, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away August 19th, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. (just in time to join her husband, Robert, for happy hour). Helen was born on May 2nd, 1942 in Woking, England as the eldest of four children to Angus Fraser Murray and Eileen Nancy Murray. She grew up in the south of England attending Moira House Boarding School followed by secretarial college in London. It was during this time that she met her beloved husband of fifty-three years, Robert Tyus Duncan, who was stationed there as a naval officer. After a whirlwind romance, the two were engaged after four months of dating. The couple married in England and then settled in Atlanta where Helen was an amazing home maker and nurturing mother.
Helen was creative in the kitchen, had a talent and love of gardening, a love for traveling (her happy place was lying on the beach reading a book) but what she treasured most of all was spending time with her family (both near and far).
She is survived by two daughters, Tonya Duncan Imbornone (Mike) and Cindy Duncan Davis (Frank), brothers John Murray and Patrick Murray (Muffin), two grandsons Cole Gandolfo (Megan) and Duncan Gandolfo, two granddaughters Cassidy Davis, Quinn Davis and a multitude of loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 6th at noon at Poole Funeral Home in Woodstock, Ga. with a visitation beforehand starting at 11 a.m. In honor of Helen’s vibrant and joyful spirit, cheerful attire is welcome to celebrate the beautiful life she lived. If able, please write a note or card with a favorite memory or few of Helen that can be cherished by her family.
