Helen Carmichael McFarland, age 88, of Atlanta passed away January 15, 2011. Mrs. McFarland was born in Canton, GA and lived her entire life in the Atlanta area. Mrs. McFarland was a member of First Baptist Church of Chamblee since 1957 and is presently a member of John’s Creek Baptist Church. The things she loved most was spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband , Robert R. McFarland after 62 years of marriage, sisters, Aletha Buice and Jeffie McFarland. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Deal of Marietta and daughter and son-in-law, Robbie and Greg Smith of Marietta, grandchildren, Bonny Deal, Jessica Smith and Joshua Smith and great granddaughter, Emma Lovell, sister, Sara Griffin, dear friend Kathy Young and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 1 PM at the Woodstock Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Billy Moss officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, January 21, 2011 from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
