

Born on July 8, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Curtis Powell and Reaver Bean, Iris was a woman who lived with deep love for her family and a joyful spirit that touched everyone she met.
Iris cherished time outdoors, enjoyed good food, loved shopping, and had a deep appreciation for the sound of old vinyl records. Her laughter was infectious, her personality radiant, and her presence lit up every room she entered. San Diego held a special place in her heart and was her favorite destination.
Family was everything to Iris. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kersten Sr., her mother Reaver Bean, and her brother Joseph Millard Hayes.
She is survived by her two daughters: Lisa Miner and husband Corneilus Sr., and April Christina Carter; seven grandchildren: Corneilus Jr., Chelsea, Chance, Aaron, Anthony, Jashone, and Jasmine; and two great-grandchildren: Mi’Sauni and Nyko. Iris also leaves behind her brother Richard Hayes, sister Sylvia Donaldson, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will carry her memory with love.
Iris will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, and her unwavering love for those around her. Her legacy lives on through the family she loved so dearly.
