Jack Vines passed away February 14, 2020, at the age of 76.
Jack was born in Alabama to his parents, Horace and Pernie May. He was raised in Birmingham by his aunt and uncle, Clodie and James Higdon.
Jack is survived by his wife, Mai Nguyen; son, Randy Vines (Kristi); daughter, Jennifer Vines Miller; granddaughters, Jessi Meeks (Tyler), Amanda Callahan (Jamie); great-grandsons Jay and Jordan Callahan, Cannon and Baker Meeks; step-daughters Bao Thy and Bao Tien Nguyen, and many special half siblings. Jack’s most recent great-grandson, Baker, was born on his birthday.
At the age of 18, Jack joined the Air Force. After that he began his entrepreneurial career in fields that included sporting goods, textiles, and manufacturing. After his move to Miami, Jack began his second career in the real estate industry.
In 2014, Jack moved to Vietnam to live with his wife and step-daughters for five years. In the summer of 2019, they returned to live in the US.
Jack’s legacy will be in his love of adventure. He loved to sail with his friends, ride motorcycles with his son, and explore new cultures and countries.
He lived a full life and was loved by many. His family and friends are saddened by his passing and will miss him greatly.
A memorial service will be private, but the family appreciates the love, support, and condolences from those who loved and knew Jack.
In lieu of flowers, the family has a GoFundMe page set up to help offset and alleviate the financial burden of Jack’s sudden passing.
