Janet Marie Gardner

Jan was born on March 14, 1948, in Tyler, Texas, daughter of the late Kirby Price and Lila Bryan Price.

Jan graduated from North Texas University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She then met and married her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Donald Gardner. She taught children for many years for the Cherokee County Public Schools.

Jan was a creative woman of many talents; she possessed an artistic spirit and a passion for life. She enjoyed gardening, painting, bodybuilding, playing tennis, running marathons, and sharing her gift of music as a lead singer in a ‘70’s rock band and a choir member. Her favorite moments, however, were spent cooking and baking with her beloved grandchildren.

Jan is survived by her husband, Donald Gardner; daughters, Dona Marie (Victor) Cardenas and Summer Brady; grandchildren, Zavian Gardner, Zachary Dietz, Emily Lynn, Daniel Lynn, and Annette Cardenas; great-grandchild, Liam Gardner; and brothers, Jon (Joanie) Price and Jim Price. She was preceded in death by her cherished pets, Blackie and Sadie.

Friends are invited to join Jan's family Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Poole Funeral Home. Visitation begins at 2:00 PM, followed by the Celebration of Life at 4:00 PM with Rev. Josh James officiating.
