Jean McCarthy

Mrs. Jean McCarthy, 75, of Marietta, GA peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on January 10, 2021. Jean was born on January 23, 1945 in Chattanooga, TN to the late William and Louise Alexander. She graduated from Dykes High School.

While her children were growing up, Jean devoted herself to them as a stay at home mother. In her later years, she worked as a dental assistant. She enjoyed gardening, found great joy in decorating for the holidays, cheering for the Atlanta Falcons and Braves and was a Coca-Cola enthusiast.

She loved being a grandmother and spoiled her grandchildren. Jean had a quick wit and sarcastic personality, was always kind to those around her and was very well liked. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 50 years, Mark McCarthy; children, Alex McCarthy and Allison Johnson (husband, John); grandchildren, Joshua McCarthy, Avery, Wesley and Reid Johnson; siblings, Susan Cenzalli, William Alexander and Judy Tarver; and a loving extended family.
