Jean Ballard McGill

Mrs. Jean Ballard McGill, 86, of Canton, GA, passed away October 28, 2014. She was born on February 27, 1928 in Canoe, AL to the late Ernest Lafayette “Fate” Ballard and Ella Mae Ray. She is a graduate of Atmore High School. On December 24, 1944, Jean married the love of her life, Jakey McGill. Together, they raised 5 children. She was devoted to her husband, children and home. She worked as a Cafeteria Assistant at Cherokee Christian School, where she was beloved by the students and staff. Jean was a covenant child of Christ and will be immensely missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jakey Melvine McGill. Jean leaves behind her sons, Melvine McGill (Nancy) and Mace McGill (Renea), daughters, Brenda Magee (Craig), Sheila Mixon (Curt) and Tanna Stacks (Wayne), 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Ted Lester. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 4-7pm and on Saturday 2 hours prior to the service.
