Jerry Allen Calbeck was born July 8, 1942 in New Paris, Indiana to Merle and Lillian Calbeck. After studying Vocational Drafting at Richmond High School, he attended Purdue University and received an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1963. With the escalation of the Vietnam War, Jerry enlisted in the Army and was trained to work in the Army Security Agency. He trained at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and Ft. Devens, Massachusetts before being stationed in Menwith Hill, England until the end of 1966.
Upon his return to the United States, he returned to Purdue University, and thanks to the GI Bill, graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Supervision. He married his beloved Sandy (Sandra Cassidy) the same year and was a devoted husband and father to her twin boys Rodney and Richard. His long career with Culligan Fireprotection began in 1969 and brought him and Sandy to Woodstock in 1986 as a region manager. After the dissolution of Culligan, Jerry worked for Allsouth Sprinkler, Worsham Sprinkler, and TVA/Telgian until his retirement in 2008.
Jerry was an avid fan of Nascar and loved to play golf. He was a dedicated member of Ebenezer Church in Milton, Georgia and served as an usher and greeter until his death. One of the highlights of his week was joining his friends from church on Thursdays for lunch. Although he was soft-spoken, once he opened up he was a fountain of information and would surprise you with his interesting life. He and Sandy would have been married 56 years this July 11, and each one would say the other was the best thing that ever happened to them. Theirs was an enduring love story founded in strong faith and devotion.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Sandy, and his brother, Dennis Calbeck (Linda) of Eaton, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Lillian Calbeck and his sons Rodney and Richard Calbeck.
In lieu of flowers, Sandy requests you make a donation to help children through St. Jude’s or Shriners Children’s charities.
A Funeral Service will be held at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, GA 30188, US, on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
