Jerry Dean Roberts

Jerry Dean Roberts, age 87, of Woodstock, GA, went to be with our Lord on Monday, June 1, 2026. Jerry was born in Kearney, NE on October 6, 1938. He graduated from high school in Kansas City, MO and received his undergraduate degree in Engineering from the University of Kansas. He was active in Sigma Nu fraternity and other campus activities. Jerry received his MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH.It was while they were students at KU that Jerry and Kay first met and began dating. They were married upon graduation and moved to Aberdeen, MD when Jerry was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. Jerry was a small arms instructor as an Army officer. Following his military service Jerry went to work for Armco Steel Corporation back in Kansas City and was shortly moved to the International Headquarters location in Middletown, OH where they lived and raised their 2 children for over 30 years.Jerry was very involved with the Southwestern Ohio chapter of the American Cancer Society as a volunteer and President for many years. Upon retiring from Armco, they moved to Woodstock, GA to be near their daughter’s family. They worshipped and served at Hillside Church for over 30 years, where they were both in the Chancel Choir and Jerry served as the church treasurer for many years. Jerry was very active in his Sunday school and men’s small group. Both he and Kay attended their Emmaus Walks in the North GA Walk to Emmaus community. Locally they volunteered at Pappa’s Pantry for many years. Jerry also served as the Eagle Watch HOA treasurer for 8 years. Kay and Jerry’s passions were family and travel. They enjoyed traveling all across the globe, leading multitudes of tours through their travel agency.Twelve years ago, Jerry lost his wife of 52 years, and found himself widowed. Although convinced he would not marry again, God had other plans for Jerry. Janet Nash, a friend who was also widowed, won his heart and a new romance began. They were married and enjoyed 10 beautiful years together, once again focused on family and travel, before congestive heart failure took him heavenward.Jerry was preceded in death by his father Floyd Evelyn Roberts, mother Elizabeth Haury Roberts, and his wife Kay Prelogar Roberts. He is survived by his current wife Janet Nash Roberts and her family, his son Blake Roberts (Denise), daughter Kerry Landtroop (Michael), grandsons Benjamin Roberts, Jordan Roberts (Anna), Brandon Landtroop (Kelly), granddaughter Brooke Smith (Josh, and great-grandson Carson). Also surviving are his brother Jim Roberts (Diane) of Pittsburgh, PA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.Poole Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Jery Dean Roberts.
