Jesse Alfred Hammond Jr.

Mr. Jesse Alfred Hammond, Jr.. age 84, of Woodstock, passed away January 11, 2025. Jesse was born in Hartford City, IN on October 27, 1940 to the late Jesse Alfred Hammond, Sr. and Myrtle (Cook) Hammond.

Jesse attended Hartford City High School where he graduated in 1956. He enlisted in the United States Marines shortly after high school. He met his wife, Mary Jane (Jayne) after returning to Indiana. The two had their first date on Valentines Day and they were married in 1965. Jesse and Jayne, along with their three children, Sherri, Jason and Summer, relocated to Woodstock, Georgia where Jesse worked as a power Lineman for N.G. Gilbert Company. He retired in 2003. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cheering on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Los Angeles Dodgers, and watching classic westerns on television.

Jesse is preceded in death by his wife, whom he married in 1965, Mary Jane (Jayne) Hammond; his parents, Jesse A. Hammond, Sr. and Myrtle Cook; his brothers, Billy (Bill) Wayne Hammond, Bud Hammond, Robert (Bob) Lee Hammond; sister, Betty Marie Dodds.

Survived by his children, Sherri Lipscomb (Athony), Jason Hammond, Summer Silk (Randy); sister, Sharon Alfrey; brother, Larry Hurley; grandchildren, Halle Hammond, Max Hammond, Charlie Hammond, Regan Silk and Ellah Silk. He will also be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Jesse will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 11 AM in the chapel of Poole Funeral Home with the United States Marines providing Military Honors. The family will receive friends between the hour of 10 till 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home. The family will have a reception following the service at the home of Randy and Summer Silk.
