June 16, 1928 – February 7, 2019
Joan Hill Raggett, age 90, of Canton, GA, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Joan was born on June 16, 1928 to the late William Hill and late Victoria Hill. She was a native of Toronto, Canada where she met the love of her life, Mitch Raggett. She married at 18 and became a mother of six. She enjoyed many years raising her children and being a “domestic engineer” as she would lovingly say. In her spare time, she would read, do crossword puzzles, play games such as solitaire and backgammon, garden and swim.
In 1980, the Raggett family moved to Marietta, GA when Mitch relocated to manage U.S. branch offices through his company. Joan continued to enjoy the comforts of home and being surrounded by her family. Joan’s nurturing spirit was shared with her grandchildren, great-grandsons, and her little miniature pincher, “Toby.”
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, William Stanley Hill and Minnie Victoria Tabor Hill, and her husband of 38 years, William Mitchell “Mitch” Raggett. Her memory will be cherished by her children, Steven (Jean) Raggett of Port Carling, Doug (Nelson) Raggett of San Francisco, CA, Glenn Raggett of Mississauga, Ontario, David (Darlene) Raggett of Port Coquitlam, BC, Laura Raggett of Canton, GA and Barb (Andrea) Raggett of Gainesville, GA; granddaughters, Michelle (Corey) Logan of Woodstock, GA, Angela (Jamie) Austin of Peterborough, Ontario, grandchildren Sarah, Victoria and Christopher Raggett of Port Coquitlam; great-grandsons, Cody and Kieran Austin of Peterborough, Ontario; aunt, Marg Magee of Osoyoos, BC; cousin, Bernice Lowe of Oakville, Ontario; and close friend, Barb Partridge of London, Ontario.
