Joann Ruth Lawrence

JoAnn Ruth (Weatherbee) Lawrence was born on August 4, 1939, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Lester and Anna Weatherbee. She grew up alongside her three sisters: MaryAnn, Cathleen (deceased), and Elaine.

JoAnn graduated as class valedictorian from Morton Memorial High School in Knightstown, IN. 1958 and later married the love of her life, Paul Lawrence, on July 25, 1959. They shared a beautiful life together until Paul’s passing on February 12, 2025.

JoAnn is survived by her three children: Janean, Sharon, and Mike; five grandchildren: Melissa, Monica, Erica, Ty, and LilyAnn; and seven great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Kylee, Easton, Nolan, Henley, Cole, and Averi. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who cherished her dearly.

Known for her artistry and skill, JoAnn was a master basket maker who generously shared her craft with others. She found joy and friendship in her beloved basket guild and treasured the companionship of her best friend, Andrea, whose kindness and support remained constant until the day she passed.

JoAnn will be remembered for her creativity, warmth, and the love she poured into her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the beautiful baskets she created.
