

Johnny Bernard Overcash passed away on March 8, 2026. He was born in China Grove, North Carolina on October 15, 1940, to Johnnie Davis and Homer Overcash, and graduated from China Grove High School in 1958. Johnny was married to Judith Gainer of Salisbury, North Carolina. After graduating from Wake Forest University, he entered the United States Army in 1962. Johnny served three tours of duty in the Vietnam War and held the rank of Major when he resigned his commission. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor and three Purple Hearts.
Johnny owned a business, selling x-ray equipment for over 40 years to doctors and veterinarians across the United States. He was active as a Boy Scout Master for over 40 years, helping many young men earn the rank of Eagle Scout. He received the Silver Beaver award for his many years of service in scouting.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Homer, and Johnnie Overcash, and by his brother, Jerry Overcash. He has a surviving sister, JoAnn Lukas. He is survived by his wife, Judith, and six children, Carol (Stewart) Huntington, Beth Yates, Jennifer (Kevin) Moss, Joanna (Everett) Lilya, Brett (Sumier) Overcash, and Jonathan (Kathryn) Overcash. Johnny has nineteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. Johnny was a member of the Church of Jesus Christof Latter-Day Saints. His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 20206 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3155 Trickum Road, Marietta, GA. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Poole Funeral Home Woodstock.
