Joni Glyn Brooks

Mrs. Brooks was born on October 29, 1954, in Lawton, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Colonel James F. Fulton, Jr. and Barbara Joan Thaxton Fulton.

Mrs. Brooks received numerous degrees in education. She began her lifelong career in education as an elementary school teacher and spent the final five years of her career teaching at Etowah High School. She was a self-proclaimed “World’s Greatest Reading Teacher” and few would argue that she was wrong. She was known to walk into her classroom and say, “Who loves Mrs. Brooks?”

She also found joy in traveling to Disney with her loving husband of fifty years, Allen Brooks, where she delighted in walking the parks and enjoying the food—simple pleasures made brighter by her warm spirit and the gentle humor that so often accompanied her presence.

Mrs. Brooks leaves a legacy of love, steadfast devotion, and lasting influence—carried forward in the memories of those who cherished her and in the many lives she touched through her work and her kindness.

Mrs. Brooks is preceded in death by brother, Jimmy Fulton; sister, Stephani Fulton.

Survivors include her husband, Allen Brooks; son, Shawn Brooks; daughter, Meagan Brooks; brother, Dick Duane (Kathy) Fulton; sisters, Barbie (Mac) McDonald and Kim (Bob)

Rowe; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from two o’clock in the afternoon until four on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Poole Funeral Home.

In honor of Mrs. Brooks’ love of Disney, guests are invited to wear Disney attire.
