Joseph was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on July 15, 1980. He died at his home in Woodstock, Georgia on August 19, 2020.
A 1998 graduate of Lassiter High School, Joseph went on to earn a B.S. from Jacksonville State University in psychology and a M.S. from the University of Tennessee in mental health counseling. He was a Licensed Professional Counselor for United Health Care and Beacon Health Services where he served as a case manager.
Joe is survived by his loving parents Stephen W. Shearer and Danita Fiorenza Shearer of Canton, GA, his sister Jessica Shearer Clements and brother-in-law Brian Thomas Clements, two nephews Patrick Thomas Clements and William Joseph Clements, whom he loved dearly, of Marietta, GA. He leaves his aunt Roslind Ferrone and uncle Francis Ferrone of Middletown, Maryland and his aunt Cecelia Matheny and Roger Neptune of Weston, WV. Dear to him were cousins Jason Ferrone and Valerie Morosko Ferrone, Stephen Ferrone and Michelle Catalano Ferrone and their son Stephen of West Virginia and Maryland, respectively.
Joe was a loving son and brother who never failed to tell his family that he loved them. He was a sensitive lover of poetry and music, a writer and an artist who loved his cats and everything Star Wars and fantasy. Generous to a fault, he made sure everyone in the family had unique gifts and at least one pocket knife. His nephews were well-supplied with LEGO and toys. Joe will always be missed by his family who will remember his calm sweetness and quirky sense of humor. Joe expressed his goal was to make a difference in people’s lives through mental health services.
