Josephine Reed Steele passed away on August 23, 2026 in Canton, Georgia at the age of 95. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Dennis Norman Steele, and her infant son, Devon. She is survived by her children Lynette (Bill) Losey, Dean (Lisa) Steele, and Michele Parisano. She was "Mamie" to five grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Josephine was originally from Savannah, Georgia and a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy Class of 1949. She raised her children in Clark, New Jersey but returned to Savannah following Dennis's retirement in 1987, where she welcomed family to their home at The Landings on Skidaway Island. Josephine moved to Woodstock, Georgia to be closer to family following Dennis's death in 2020. A member of the Daughters of Ireland, Josephine cherished her Irish heritage and enjoyed learning about the heritages of those she met whether while traveling internationally or as part of daily life. She was a creative person that loved to paint, write, and dance, and she continued to participate in weekly dance classes until late 2025.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Woodstock on September 1, 2026 at 11am. A private graveside service will be held at Bonaventure Cemetery.
