Julie Orr Brannock, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, peacefully transitioned from this life into the loving presence of Jesus Christ on October 3rd, 2026 in Canton, Georgia.
Julie was born on August 11th, 1943, in Aruba, N.A., during a WWII Allied Forces initiated blackout due to German U-boats submerged off the coast seeking to take aim at the Esso Oil Refinery, a detail surrounding her birth in which Julie took great pride. Her parents, the late Hugh Walton Orr, Jr. and Margaret deLettre Orr, had relocated from Miami to Aruba, where Hugh had taken a position with Esso/Exxon. Julie graduated from Lago Colony High School in Aruba and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida State University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Upon her graduation in the spring of 1965, Julie was commissioned in the United States Navy as a LTJG NC (Lieutenant Junior Grade Nurse Corps) and stationed in San Diego where she met her former husband, Alan Brown, and started her family. Julie’s love of nursing and babies led her to a career in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, where she cared for countless premature newborns over the span of 22 years.
On December 31st, 1985, Julie married the love of her life, Ronald Brannock. Together, they created a 40 year union exemplifying love, patience, devotion, generosity and family.
Julie was an exceptionally gifted seamstress, craft and homemaker. Her love language centered around giving the people in her life one of her beautiful creations she had poured her time, talent and love into making. She found great joy in setting a pretty table and inviting friends and family to take part in a meal together. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. Julie will be remembered for her quiet strength, her often unexpected delivery of a joke, and her love of family, friends and pets.
Julie is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Brannock; her daughters, Libby Rouleau; Lanie Bartlett ( Bill ) ; Hope Emerson ( Brian) ; Heidi Garguilo (Frank) ; her grandchildren, Jack, Will ( Emily ), Anna, Paul, Margaret, Vann, Ross, Andrea and Danny ( Star) ; and her great-grandchildren, Liam, Ellie, Nevada ( Chandler ) and Tyler.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Orr Rigos; and her parents, Hugh and Margaret Orr.
A funeral service celebrating Julie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24th, 2026 at St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church, 571 Holt Rd NE, Marietta, GA 30068, where she was a member for over 50 years and a founding chapter member of The Order of the Daughters of the King.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the dog and cat rescue Angels Among Us/
