Kaitlin and Riley Hunt

Kaitlin Marie Hunt was born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 13, 1989. She grew up in Marietta, and attended Sprayberry High School, and attended Valdosta State University. In 2013 she joined the United States Coast Guard and was stationed in Port St. Lucie, Florida. In 2016 she married her high school sweetheart, Brandon Hunt, and on June 19 of this year they welcomed their beautiful daughter Riley Marie Hunt. Kaitlin was completely devoted to her family and small circle of friends, and was a lover and protector of animals. She and Brandon had three dogs and three cats.

Riley passed away on September 9th, and Kaitlin followed her in death on September 12th. Kaitlin was an organ donor, and because of her gift, several people have a renewed chance for life. While we grieve, we are thankful that several other families are filled with hope and joy because of Kaitlin.

Kaitlin and Riley are survived by husband and father Brandon Hunt of Port St. Lucie, Florida; mother and grandmother Kathleen Vandiver of Marietta; father and grandfather Gregg Vandiver; step father and grandfather David Lickman of Woodstock; mother-in-law and grandmother Mary White, father-in-law and grandfather Chuck White of Pensacola, Florida; sisters and aunts Lauren Michelle Vandiver of Baton Rouge Louisiana, Nicole Lickman of Woodstock, and Kelsey Lickman of Woodstock; sister-in-law and aunt Danyle Kalba of Acworth; brother-in-law and uncle Lee Hunt of Pensacola, Florida; brother-in-law and uncle Charles White of Marietta; nephew and cousin DJ, niece and cousins Danika and Airin of Acworth, Georgia; dogs Blackjack,Bo and Hoss; and cats Milo, Houdini, and Persephone of Port St, Lucie, Florida.

While I didn't know Kaitlin and Riley or their family, I was saddened to read of their tragic deaths. I wish their family peace in knowing that they were able to help other families because of their loss. Riley was one of the one percent who chose to serve their country.
