Kathryn Goodson

Mrs. Kathryn Hammond Goodson, age 86, passed away December 30, 2017 at The Brian Center in Canton, Georgia. She was formerly of Woodstock, Georgia. Kathryn was born in Floyd County, Armuchee, Georgia on January 22, 1931 to the late Hiram Clifton and Myrtle Estelle Thompson Hammond. She was married to the late John Philo Goodson on February 27, 1949 in Floyd County Georgia and he preceded her in death on January 18, 1996. Kathryn is survived by three children; Joe Goodson and his wife Irene of Woodstock, Kathy Reed of Waleska and Donna Stewart and her husband Kyle of Woodstock; four grandchildren, Melissa Bucher and her husband Brad of Canton, Kyle Satterfield of Alabama, Kina Pampel and her husband David of Waleska and Amy Jones of Waleska; four great-grandchildren; Joey Brewer and Colton Bucher both of Canton, Cody Pampel of Marietta and Nathaniel Jones of Waleska. She is also survived by several precious nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ramona Broome on September 30, 2006 and Elsie Heath on December 17, 2003 both of Rome, Georgia; one grandchild, Irenna Goodson on June 23, 1970 of Woodstock. Kathryn was the last of her immediate family. Mrs. Goodson was a Jehovah's Witness and attended the Kingdom Hall at Bells Ferry Road in Marietta for many years. She was a homemaker, enjoyed making flower arrangements, dancing and visiting family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Woodstock Funeral Home on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2:00pm with a reception after the service. Mrs. Goodson will be cremated and her cremated remains will be interred at Sunlight Baptist Cemetery in Woodstock.
