Kathy Diane Bailes, 72, of Woodstock Georgia, passed away on November 19, 2025. Kathy never sought recognition, yet she was an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind woman whose life was shaped by selfless generosity, fierce independence, and a steadfast commitment to the people she held dear. Kathy will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her kindness, her humor, her infectious laugh, and the immense strength with which she faced life’s challenges.
Born on July 5, 1953, Kathy was adopted at birth by Marjorie and Bernard Glen Sharpes, who lovingly raised her in Ravenswood, West Virginia. Later in life, Kathy reunited and formed warm, meaningful relationships with her birth mother, Dee Randall, and birth father, Robert Barringer.
Kathy grew up in Ravenswood and graduated from Ravenswood High School, where she was a proud majorette in the marching band, a role that reflected the spirit and energy she carried throughout her life. She went on to create a warm and loving home for her children, raising them in Ravenswood while working multiple jobs and faithfully playing the organ for her community church. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured every bit of her heart into loving, protecting, and providing for them.
An extremely independent, hard-working, and resilient woman, Kathy spent many years at Ravenswood Aluminum, where her work ethic and good humor earned her the respect and affection of everyone she encountered. After retiring in 2007, she moved to Woodstock, Georgia, to be closer to her daughter and beloved grandchildren. Even in retirement, Kathy continued to give of herself, working part-time in the garden department at the local Walmart, where her kindness and familiar laugh brightened the days of both coworkers and customers alike.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie Sharpes and Bernard Glen Sharpes; her stepmother, Pat Sharpes; her birth father Robert Barringer; her former husband, Michael Bailes; and her stepsister, Wendy Sharpes Martinez.
She is survived by her son, Richard Bailes (Jennifer Cain); her daughter, Holli Mancini (Damien Mancini); her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Bailes, Mason Mancini, and Karli Mancini; her birth mother, Dee Randall; and her brother, David Sharpes (Pam Sharpes).
Kathy’s legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the family she adored. She is deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
