Kenneth Allen Emery

Kenneth Allen “Bear” Emery passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the age of 48. Kenneth was a selfless individual who had a great sense of humor and a giving heart. He was passionate and developed a special relationship with everyone around him. Kenneth was more affectionately known as “Bear,” “Broady,” or would gift others with their unique nicknames such as “Honey,” “Sweet Pea,” “Pie,” “M & D,” “Tiger,” or “Padre.” Kenneth loved to travel especially to places with a beach such as Dubai, Aruba, Tahiti, Turks and Cacos. He enjoyed animals but more than anything, he found joy in spending time with his family. Kenneth enjoyed endless adventures with his granddaughter, sharing surprises, ice cream Thursdays and high fives as a room parent at First Baptist Church of Woodstock Wee School. He loved his dirt bikes and motorcycles of which he self-customized. Kenneth is survived by his parents, Allen and Sally Emery of Madison, Alabama; wife of nearly 19 years, Debbie Emery of Marietta, Georgia; daughter, Meghan Smith and her fiancé, Brian Lover, of Woodstock, Georgia; granddaughter, McKenna Leighton Lover of Woodstock, Georgia; sisters, Sarah Ridley and her husband, Ryan, of Madison, Alabama and Amanda Ray and her husband, Bart, of Huntsville, Alabama; sisters in law, Mot “Padre” Hastings of Ellijay, Georgia and Fran Derck and her husband, Chet, of Ellijay, Georgia; nephews, Mitchell Ridley of Madison, Alabama, Jake Ridley of Madison, Alabama, Jackson Ray of Huntsville, Alabama, and Tim Crawford and his wife, Alison, of South Lake, Texas; niece, Stefanie Hastings of Canton, Georgia; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins to cherish his memory. Kenneth also leaves behind his rescue dog, “Indie.” The family will receive friends Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Building A at First Baptist Church of Woodstock. Inurnment will follow at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Woodstock Wee School.
