Ken was born on February 29, 1944 to Alma and Alfred Lee, in Portsmouth, VA . Following high school, Ken joined the U.S. Army, where he was a jumpmaster with the 101st Airborne Division. Following nine years of military service - which included duty stations in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Okinawa, Japan, Ken separated from the Army with an honorable discharge to pursue a career in manufacturing.
A highlight of Ken's career was his founding of Accufab, Inc., which manufactured products for the rail transportation industry, including transportation authorities for multiple major metropolitan areas. After growing the company as both its President and CEO, Ken led a merger of Accufab with TSS, Inc. which continues to operate on a global scale as a specialty supplier to the passenger rail sector.
Throughout his life, Ken was a consummate prankster. He brought a constant stream of joy, laughter, and at times - embarrassment - to those around him through neverending practical jokes, which he delivered effortlessly. Ken lived life unapologetically and to his own beat. The opinions of others were of no concern to Ken, and his interests were wide-ranging in nature - from cars and tools, to travel and music, to chocolate and clothing.
Ken married his beloved wife, Ivy Lee, in 2005, who survives Ken, along with his three sons; Kenneth Jr. (59), Matt (42), and Aaron (39) as well as two stepdaughters; Jennifer (39) and Brittany (38). Ken was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Sandy, in 2012.
