He resided in Canton, Georgia with his wife Karen. They celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on May 14th, 2026.
Lawrence grew up in Savannah Georgia, attended Savannah Country Day School, the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, and earned his JD at the University of Georgia School of Law. His entire legal career was with the firm of Fisher Phillips LLP in their Atlanta office.
His keen intellect was always tempered by his humility, gentle good humor, and kindness. He loved his friends, outdoors, animals, music, and was naturally athletic. He could toss a frisbee with ease and accuracy while holding a cold beverage. He knew all the words to Rocky Racoon by the Beatles as well as most of the John Prine catalogue. He enjoyed participating in volunteer programs, including Kiwanis, Habitat for Humanity, and co-leading a troop of Webelos Boy Scouts.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, and all who loved him.
He is survived by his wife Karen, his brothers, Thomas (Molly), Stephen, and Graham McGoldrick, his sisters Kevin and Monica McGoldrick, and nieces Molly McGoldrick, Christy McGoldrick Shapard, and nephew Thomas Joseph McGoldrick.
He is predeceased by his sister Mary McGoldrick Dorsey, and his parents, Dr. Thomas A. McGoldrick and Dahlis Smith McGoldrick
