Leamon was a devout Catholic and very active in the Roman Catholic Church. He has served as a Lay Minister, Ecumenical Minister, choir member and led many bible study groups in many parishes in the metropolitan Atlanta area.
His faith showed in how he treated his family, friends and acquaintances. Leamon was a very devoted and loyal husband and loving father. His unique sense of humor, quick wit and charm will be deeply missed by those who were lucky enough to know him.
Doc leaves behind his son, Myron Bateman and his wife, Vivienne; grandson, Kyle James Bateman; and many friends and a loving extended family, including three surviving children from Margarette’s first marriage and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margarette Bateman; brothers, Ousbon A. Bateman, Freeman R. Bateman and John W. Bateman; and sister, Elsie Mae Willis.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 23, 2019 from 5-7pm at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main St, Woodstock, GA 30188. A funeral mass will be on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 10:30am at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 490 Arnold Mill Rd, Woodstock, GA 30188. Following the service there will be a reception at St. Michael the Archangel. Leamon will be laid to rest beside his beloved Margarette at 2:30pm at Fariview Memorial Gardens, 164 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
