December 8, 1948 - February 16, 2019
L.J. Boone of Acworth, Georgia, age 70 went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 16, 2019. He was a loving husband, brother, and uncle who is deeply missed. Born in Burlington, North Carolina and raised in the Atlanta area, he joined the United States Air Force where he served for four years and later worked professionally as a plumber for most of his life. He met the love of his life, Cyndi McCarty in 1983 and they married in 1988. L.J. was the second oldest of eleven children and absolutely enjoyed teasing and pulling pranks on his siblings and later his nephews and nieces. He often said his younger sister was his favorite sister. We are all his younger sister. But that was L.J., he loved everyone and he loved life and celebrating it to the fullest. He loved to hunt, fish, explore, hike, and cook. There was not a single thing he would not eat. The range of his culinary palate was boundless. L.J. was also an avid reader from an early age which he continued throughout his life. He loved to read anything on any subject which made it really difficult to argue or debate with him because he was so well-read and informed on past and current subjects. He also loved telling L.J. stories. You never knew if it was true or he was pulling your leg. While L.J. had a large family, he was also loved by many friends. L.J. was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lee Boone and mother, Mildred Horton Boone Wood; brothers, Larry Boone (partner in crime) and Douglas Boone. He is survived by his wife, Cyndi McCarty Boone of Acworth; Brothers, Buddy Boone of Cedartown, Georgia, Randy Boone of Dallas, Texas, Jeff Wood of Richmond Hills, Georgia; Sisters, Linda Gaspard of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Ruth Lyerly of Bradenton, Florida, Tricia Boone of San Antonio, Texas, Kathleen Murray of San Antonio, Texas, and Jennifer Sosebee of Carrolton, Georgia. He is also survived by over 100 nephews and nieces but was particularly close to Michael Martin, D.J. Hooks, Timothy Hooks, and Ashton Martin, all of whom he loved dearly. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from 4 until 8 pm at Woodstock Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 9 am at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in his memory to your local Hospice organization.
