On December 29, 2025, at the age of 63, Lisa Ann Dunn peacefully went home to her Heavenly Father, surrounded by her loving husband, daughters, sons, and grandchildren. Lisa faced a courageous five-year battle with cancer, enduring many rounds of radiation and chemotherapy with remarkable strength and grace. Though she did not wish to leave those she loved, she was weary from the long journey and needed the rest and peace that only eternity in heaven with Jesus can provide.
Lisa met her beloved husband, Kevin, at a Bible study, where they quickly became close friends and soon realized they could not imagine life without one another. They were married in 1989 and made their home in North Georgia. In the years that followed, they welcomed three daughters into their family. Lisa devoted herself wholeheartedly to motherhood, instilling in her children a deep faith in God and Christian family values. Her daughters fondly remember Lisa reading Little House on the Prairie and other cozy books, as well as family Bible studies and prayer times that shaped their faith and character.
Lisa’s passion was first and foremost her family. As a full-time homeschooling mother, she guided her daughters from preschool through high school graduation, nurturing in them a lifelong love of learning. She found enjoyment visiting the beautiful North Georgia mountains and coordinating field trips to historical museums. She also turned everyday moments—car rides and family dinners—into meaningful opportunities for learning and connection.
After her youngest daughter graduated high school—an occasion Kevin celebrated by throwing Lisa a lighthearted “retirement” party—Lisa continued to serve as a steady and compassionate presence in the lives of those she loved. For many years, she faithfully cared for her mother through a difficult journey with Alzheimers. She stood beside her father as he grieved the loss of his wife, and she unwaveringly supported her daughters, Kristen and Karlyn, during their own life-threatening illnesses.
One of Lisa’s greatest motivations throughout her treatments was her desire to remain present for life’s most important moments. Following her diagnosis, she lovingly helped plan Karlyn and Cameron’s wedding, traveled to Texas and Delaware to visit Katie, Zack, and their family while they lived on Air Force bases, and joyfully welcomed three additional grandchildren Claire, Everett and Annalise into her life. She shared a particularly special bond with her oldest grandchildren, Wyatt and Claire. Claire and her “Lula” shared a special song, “Stuck Like Glue,” which Claire requested each time they were together. "Lula" and Wyatt would look at pictures of butterflies and animals, learning interesting facts about them together.
Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Kevin; her daughters, Kristen; Katie and her husband, Zack, along with their children, Wyatt, Claire, and Everett; and Karlyn and her husband, Cameron, with their daughter, Annalise. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Pate, Jr., and her father, Joseph Pate, Sr."
