Lonny Bruce Lester

Lonny Bruce Lester, age 67, of Temple, Georgia, passed away on April 6, 2017. Lonny was born to O.H. & Audrey Lester on April 16, 1949 in San Bernardino, California. He grew up in Eau Gallie, Florida. He was a decorated Air Force Staff Sergeant veteran serving as a fire fighter during the Vietnam War. He had also worked as a police officer, disc jockey, and most recently, a trucker. He was a man with a big heart who always wanted to help others. He enjoyed fishing and was an active member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Temple, Georgia and many veteran organizations. He is preceded in death by his father, O.H. “Bud” Lester, and mother, Audrey Lester; Survivors include wife, Vernell Green Lester; son, Brandon Heath Lester and his wife, Jaime, of Madison, Alabama; sisters, Linda Lively and her husband, James Hugh, of Roswell, Georgia, Laurie Lester of Villa Rica, Georgia, and Lee Anne Lester and her husband, Jeff Kesling, of Canton, Georgia; grandchildren, Liberty Kayte Lester and Mackenzie Lauren Lester of Madison, Alabama; stepmother, Elma Lester, of Hatboro, Pennsylvania; and pets, Kit Kat, Junior, and Walker. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 PM Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Woodstock Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service 12 PM Monday, April 24, 2017 with Pastor Jerry Camp officiating. Graveside Services will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
