Martha Sue Finch (née Crook), age 73, of Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025. Born on June 28, 1952, at Crawford Long Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Fred Crook and Jimmie Lou Crook.
Martha graduated from Forest Park High School in 1970, where she ran track, and later worked in accounting at Sears—where she met the love of her life, Clary Finch, to whom she was married for 45 years until his passing earlier this year.
Warm, creative, and deeply connected to others, Martha poured herself into the things she loved—volunteering at her local library reading to children, substitute teaching, sewing, decorating, and tending to her garden with great care. She loved to travel, especially to warm beaches, and Hawaii was her favorite place in the world. A devoted reader, she especially enjoyed Southern historical novels. Martha was a true people person who cherished longtime friendships from her Sears days and enjoyed conversations with neighbors and new acquaintances alike.
Family was at the heart of Martha’s life, and she shared an especially close bond with her three sisters. Holidays and gatherings at her home were filled with warmth, laughter, and the comfort of her cooking. Her home was always beautifully decorated for the season, and her garden reflected her talent and joy for creating beauty in everyday life.
Martha is survived by her stepson, Todd Finch; her beloved sisters Brenda Brown, Carolyn Mitchell, and Annette Crook and her partner Renee Snow; nephews Christopher Mitchell, Glenn Brown, and Brad Brown as well as many Great Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Clary Finch, niece Robin Mitchell, Brenda’s husband Thurmond Brown and Carolyn’s husband Lamar Mitchell.
Martha will be remembered for her loving spirit, her joyful presence, and the deep care she offered to everyone she knew and met.
