Martha Price Montgomery
December 13, 1942 – December 31, 2018
Martha Price Montgomery, age 76, of Woodstock, Georgia was called home by her Heavenly Father on December 31, 2018.
Born in Roanoke, Virginia on December 13, 1942, Martha was the oldest daughter of Ruth and Benjamin “Shockey” Price. She and her two sisters grew up in Blacksburg, Virginia. After graduating from Blacksburg High School in 1961, Martha enjoyed her time as a secretary at the YMCA at Virginia Tech. She had great love and pride for Virginia Tech and was a devoted Hokies fan throughout her life!
Martha moved to Atlanta with her husband in 1970, where she would raise her three children, Meredith, Neil and Colin. A beloved mother and grandmother, she always said her greatest joy was her family. Many others considered her a mother-figure in their own lives, looking to her for advice and comfort. She had grace and dignity, was sweetly sassy, and had a charming sense of humor. Martha was a southern lady at heart and everyone loved her for it.
Martha was very active at Dunwoody Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School preschool teacher for 14 years and worked as a secretary. She worked for 20 years with BellSouth Mobility (AT&T), eventually retiring in 2004. Martha loved assisting in her children’s various activities as they grew up, and volunteered more recently at the Hope Center, a faith-based crisis center. She also loved helping to plan her high school reunions. Martha faithfully attended the movies every Saturday and looked forward to her monthly lunches with dear friends in Atlanta. She later became a beloved member of First Baptist Church Woodstock. Martha cherished every relationship she established and was a compassionate, devoted friend to all!
Martha enjoyed gardening, her beautiful climbing pink roses and traveling, her favorite places being Ireland and England. She was also an avid reader and participated in aqua aerobics through age 75. Her passion and beautiful taste for decorating was influenced by her love for the Biltmore House, Victorian Era, and HGTV. She loved attending Neil Diamond and Four Tops/Temptations concerts, Broadway shows and Shakespeare plays, and she was always singing and dancing to “The Golden Oldies”! She had collections of angels, bunnies and hummingbirds that brought joy to her life. Heaven help you if you interrupted Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, or her Hokies football games! Above all, Martha will be remembered most for her steadfast devotion to the Lord and constant love for her family and friends.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin “Shockey” and Ruth Price; grandmother, Millie Davidson; best friend, Carol McCoy. Her memory will be cherished by her children, Meredith Argo of Woodstock, GA, Neil Montgomery of Albuquerque, NM and Colin Montgomery of Alpharetta, GA; son in law, Joe Argo of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren, James and Emma Argo, and Dante Montgomery; sisters, Mary P. Meredith, Colin , Neil and Martha's grandchildren and Bruce,
I am so sorry for all of you. Even though she was my Sister she was my friend and confidant also.
She loved all of you so much and always let me know what was going on with each of you.
I was headed home from her home today and we stopped at a gas station. While I was sitting there just out of the blue I almost called her. Oh my... it was for only a second or two , but the reality of not seeing her in this life again really hit me. She was the BEST Sister ever !!!
God Bless each of you and comfort you .
Love, Aunt Jane

I had the honor of meeting your mom, Martha through her and my best friend Carole McCoy. I remember hearing Carole talk so much about her and all the fun they shared especially at their class reunion.
Sorry for your loss.
