With deep love and profound sorrow, we honor the life and legacy of Maryann Pizzello, a woman whose strength, grace, and devotion shaped generations. Maryann passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, resilience, and unwavering love.
Born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Maryann spent much of her life serving her community with integrity and compassion. She dedicated many years to the City of Elizabeth, where she retired as Director of Consumer Affairs. Her work reflected her enduring commitment to fairness and advocacy, always standing up for the people she served.
Maryann’s greatest joy, however, came from the heart of her home—her family. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Salvatore “Raymond” Pizzello, and a beloved daughter of Joseph and Rafaella “Rae” DeMaio. Though she endured the heartbreaking loss of her children Colleen A. Coppola, Lori E. Decker, Robert C. Reilly III, and grandson Joseph Mangina Jr., her strength never wavered. Her love remained steadfast, a constant source of comfort and inspiration.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her daughter Susan and son-in-law Joseph Mangina, daughter-in-law Suzanne Reilly, and her cherished grandchildren: Joseph and Lindsay Coppola, Christopher, Matthew, Grace, and Rafaella Mangina, Robert and Sean Reilly, and Katelynn Sande. Her great-grandchildren—Thadd and Donny Sande, Bobby and Liam Reilly—will grow up hearing stories of her boundless love and quiet strength.
Maryann was a woman of many passions. She found joy in the simple pleasures—cooking meals that brought her family together, reading books that fed her curious mind, and traveling to places that stirred her soul. But above all, she will be remembered for her unconditional love, her fierce loyalty, and the sense of home she created wherever she went.
Her legacy is not just in the lives she touched, but in the values she lived: kindness, perseverance, and the power of family. We take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in all of us who were lucky enough to know and love her.
Rest in peace, Maryann. Your love will forever guide us.
