Mary Gertrude Slater

Mary was born in Syracuse, New York on May 30, 1928, to Ralph E and Anna Gertrude Gardner.

Married to the love of her life, Robert Wallace Slater in 1952, the couple shared 46 loving years together. Mary and Robert enjoyed participating in the Appalachian Trail Club for many years. Mary was also a beloved member of the East Marietta Bridge Club.

Mary is remembered by her children as being a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother. While her children were growing up, Mary enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader and Camp Counselor.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Anna Gardner; her loving husband, Robert; her daughter, Susan; and her grandson, Robert Wallace Slater III.

Mary is survived by her children, Robert (Kay) Slater Jr., Mary Slater, and Barbara (Barney) Slater Simonson; her five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed.
