Mary Ruth Summerlin

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 2, 2025 at GracePointe Marietta Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Hunt and Rev. Norman Hunt officiating. Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. and go until the time of service. Interment will be 11:00 am Tuesday August 5, 2025 at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Mrs. Summerlin was born September 1, 1946 to the late Norman, Jr. and Bessie Oxendine Hunt in Lumberton, North Carolina. Mary was employed as an insurance underwriter for the last 30 years. Mary was a member of the GracePointe Baptist Church in Marietta.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Governor “Buddy” Locklear.

Survivors include two sons, Christopher Summerlin (Beth), Aaron Summerlin (Allie); three brothers, Norman Hunt (Vickie), Johnny Hunt (Janet), Fred Hunt; one sister, Barbara Buzzell; grandchildren, Kolby, Miles, Anna, Oliver, Avery, Alex, Ava and AJ; several nieces and nephews.
