Merle is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nanette; daughters, Brandy Munn (Anthony) and Scarlett Hudgins (John); grandchildren, Austin, Kylee, Alyssa, Alahna, Bethany, Damein and Jinger; siblings, Melanie Ross (Bob), Karlas Tuminello (Dominic) and Dr. Kim Kemmerly; and many nieces and nephews.
Merle graduated from Airline High School and through the years has kept in touch with many of his classmates. He attended Bossier Community College and earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Analytics from Grambling University. Merle started his career with Verifone and retired from Hewlett Packard.
He had a passion for helping young athletes and soccer. He coached at the SCRA and was the first soccer coach at Dean Rusk Middle School. To this day, many students still remark on the positive impact Coach Kemmerly had on their life. He also enjoyed cooking, gardening and woodworking. Merle loved music and always had some playing. He also was a talented bass guitar player.
Family and friends will remember Merle for his laid back and easygoing personality. He was very quiet, but made sure you knew how loved you were. Merle was a loving and faithful husband, father and paw paw. To his children’s friends, he was affectionately known at Pops. Merle will forever be missed and loved by his family and friends.
The family will host a potluck at Dupree Park, Woodstock, on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 5:00pm to celebrate Merle’s life. All are welcome to attend and share your favorite memories of Merle.
