

Michael Bruce Houchens, 71, of Woodstock, GA, died of a sudden illness on May 16, 2026. After a private family celebration of his life, his ashes will be interred at Huntsville (AL) Memory Gardens.Mike was born in St. Louis, but resided most of his childhood in Huntsville, AL, where he graduated from SR Butler High School in 1973. He attended the University of Alabama and spent most of his adult years in Mt. Juliet, TN, as a professional printer. After retirement, he returned to Huntsville as a live-in caretaker for his father until his death, and then moved to Woodstock to be near family, where he resided at Camellia Place Senior Living Community.Mike was an avid Alabama football fan and Tennessee Titans founding PSL ticket holder for 20-plus years. He enjoyed studying and reading the Bible, listening to podcast evangelists and rock music from his extensive album collection, boating, and doting on his niece and nephews. He was beloved for his kindheartedness, jocular laugh, and heart-melting smile.He was preceded in death by his parents: Richard Bruce and Julia Riggs Houchens; grandparents: Harold Gay and Ruth Cline Houchens, and Lindsey Howell and Pearl Godwin Riggs; and beloved nephew Kyle Phillips.Survivors include siblings: Beth (Bob) Garfrerick, Laura Houchens, and Tim (Beth) Houchens; Auntie Mom Margaret Riggs Baker; niece, Katherine Phillips; nephews Andrew (Steph) Garfrerick, Adam (Mary) Garfrerick, Aaron Garfrerick, Jude Houchens, Beau Houchens, and Finn Houchens; beloved cousins, a great-nephew, and two great-nieces.
