

Mike Orsina, age 62, of Woodstock, GA left this life on October 28, 2021. Mike grew up in Martinsville, Virginia, and received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia (UVA). He also held a degree in nursing as well as a Critical Care Nurse credential, and provided care for thousands of patients during his career.
For the past 30 years, Mike was on staff at Saint Joseph’s Hospital (Atlanta) in the Coronary Care Unit, Electronic Intensive Care Unit, and Transfer Center. He was dedicated to his work and considered it a privilege to be part of the Saint Joseph’s family. He often shared his knowledge to help train other nurses and hospital staff members.
A lifelong UVA sports fan, Mike especially enjoyed college football and basketball. He became a car enthusiast at an early age and closely followed NASCAR racing. He cheered for many different drivers over the years, but Richard Petty was always at the top of his favorites list.
Mike loved traveling and had visited most US states and many places in Canada. In recent years, Scotland was his favorite place to visit and he took endless joy in the scenery, history, and people there.
Most of all, he treasured time spent with his family and friends, laughing and making them laugh. He felt very fortunate to have such wonderful friends who made his life special.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Robert Paul Orsina, and his grandparents, Curtis and Helen Spencer, and Stephen and Flora Orsina.
His memory will be cherished by his wife of 33 years, Miriam Aiken Orsina of Woodstock and his mother, Barbara Spencer Orsina of Ellenton, FL. Other surviving family that Mike held dear include his mother-in-law Ouida Aiken, brother-in-law Barry Aiken, sister-in-law Muriel Sosebee (Tim), nephew Michael Aiken (Melissa), niece Michelle Miller (Jonathan), niece Lily Sosebee, three great-nephews (Bryson, James and Asher) and a great-niece (Mackenzie).
A visitation will be held at Woodstock Funeral Home on Monday, November 1, from 6 to 8 pm.
A memorial service will take place at the Chapel at Saint Joseph’s Hospital on a date to be announced later.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) at diabetes.org/diabetes/donation or to another charity that reflects Mike’s commitment to help others.
