Minnie Era Hall Duke went home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 14, 2018. She was born on March 24, 1929 in Boaz, Alabama. She currently presided in Talking Rock, Georgia but Huntsville, Alabama was her home for most of her life. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Ramey and Era Erdie Johnston Hall, her beloved husband, Luther Marion Duke, and her eldest daughter, Deborah Lynn Duke Elliotte. She is also preceded in death by her two sisters, Marie Hall May and Beatrice Hall Estes, and her brother Bobby Ray Hall. She is survived by her three children: Gregory R. Duke, Sr. and his wife Jan of Franklin, Tennessee, Patricia Duke Bell and her husband Tim of Cullman, Alabama, and Constance Duke Dean and her husband Steve of Talking Rock, Georgia. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Patrick Wilson, Jon Wilson, Niki Duke Nichols, Gregory Duke, Jr., Natalie Duke, Shawn Bell, Michelle Bell Lynn, Joshua Bell, Stephanie Dean Fitzpatrick, and Brittany Dean Zah. She is also survived and blessed by 22 great grandchildren: Maggie, Tyler, Ryan, Becca, Alex, Cody, Levi, Cameron, Peyton, Hannah, Jonah, Jayton, Brayden, Camden, Era Lee, Tanner, Luke, Remi, Avery, Cara Rose, Andi, and Gregory III. She is also survived by her sister Bonnie Hall Gorham, and four brothers Millard Hall, Marston Hall, James H. Hall, and Billy Joe Hall plus many dear sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. Minnie loved her family dearly including her church family from Alabama and Georgia. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing board and card games, visiting with family and friends, and in her later years, she enjoyed stitching "JOY". She was married to Luther on October 18, 1947 and they were blessed with 49 years of a Christian happy marriage and life. Minnie was a charter member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Huntsville, Alabama and remained an active member until she relocated her residence to Talking Rock, Georgia. There she became a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church. Minnie always said, "It is not what I have done but what my Lord and Savior has done for me!" Visitation will be at Valhalla Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 17 from 6-8 PM and the funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 18 at 11:00 AM at Ascension Lutheran Church, 3801 Oakwood Avenue in Huntsville, Alabama. She will be buried by her husband at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
