

Born in Waycross, Georgia, Gail moved with her husband, the late Virgil Maiburn Coffee, to Athens, Georgia, where they raised their family and became an important part of the community. Gail and Maiburn shared 62 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in May 2020.
In Athens, Gail was an active member of Beech Haven Baptist Church teaching Sunday School and a longtime participant of the handbell choir. She was also a devoted Georgia Bulldogs fan, spending countless fall Saturdays in the stands at Sanford Stadium. Together, they made lifelong friends in the Athens community.
Alongside Maiburn, Gail began her interior decorating career through The Sherwin Williams company in Athens. She continued this passion as Sherwin Williams later took the couple to Decatur, Alabama. It was there she worked for Caster Knott department store showcasing her impeccable eye for design, gracious demeanor, and dedication to her craft which earned her awards and the admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
While in Decatur, Gail and Maiburn formed meaningful friendships and filled their home in Point Mallard with joyful gatherings and celebrations. Upon returning to Georgia, they settled in the Towne Lake area of Woodstock, continuing their tradition of hospitality within the Eagle Watch community. Her business, Designs by G.G. kept her busy along with her card groups and neighborhood gatherings. Gail and Maiburn were active members of Hillside Church. She served on several community outreach committees and they were church greeters on Sundays. Gail had been attending Holbrook Community Church for the last few years.
A devoted mother, grandmother and aunt, Gail is survived by her children, Cathy (Coffee) and Tim Warner, Cherie (Coffee) and Kenneth Nix, and Mark (Elizabeth) Coffee; her grandchildren, Owen (Lindsey) Nix, Andrew (Emma) Nix, Thomas Coffee, Olivia Coffee, and Samuel Coffee; and her great-grandchildren, Kowen Nix, Sullivan Nix, Holland Nix, Juniper Nix, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Gail’s legacy is one of love, creativity, service and connection. Gail’s life was filled with warmth, laughter, and an unwavering love for her family, friends, and community. She will be remembered for her gracious heart, warm spirit, and the beauty she brought into every space she touched—through her work, and her love for family and friendships! She was a true Southern Lady!
A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 23 at Woodstock Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m. Join us in wearing happy colors to honor her joyful spirit!
In Lieu of flowers, donations to Agape Hospice are preferred in her name.
