The first of three born to Oce Alexander and Ora Howe Dunn, Oleada was born September 30th, 1939, in Camden, TN. After graduating Camden H.S. in 1957, she moved herself to Nashville. While attending the Business College in Nashville, she met her future husband, Billy McCoy Warden. They married in Nashville on July 3rd, 1962, and promptly moved to Milledgeville, GA. for Bill’s new job at the Central State Hospital. Oleada continued her education and graduated with Honors from The Women’s College of Georgia in Milledgeville receiving a Bachelor of Science degree with a double Major in Business Administration and Mathematics. During her college career, Oleada was employed as instructor of mathematics and typing at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville.
Their first daughter, Rachel Alta, was born in Milledgeville in1967, soon afterwards they relocated to Decatur, GA. where their second daughter, Regina Frances, was born in 1969. In 1972 they moved to Marietta, GA. Oleada began working for the Internal Revenue Service and retired after 28 yrs. During her time at IRS, she was very involved in a bowling league, Toastmasters International, and even learned sign language to communicate with her co-workers. Upon moving to Marietta, the family joined St. James Episcopal Church. Oleada was very involved in many aspects in the 50 yrs. that they were active members. Oleada and Bill founded the Polk Street Speakers Toastmasters Club, She helped feed the homeless, joined the volunteer and managerial staff at the St. James Thrift Shop. Her many hours of selfless service made her so proud and while helping to serve the needy in the community, she made many friends. She was very passionate about the services the thrift shop offered to those in need. After 15+ yrs. of service to the St. James Thrift Shop, she retired at the age 80. Oleada was also an active member of NARFE, The National Association of Retired Federal Employees, where she was the current acting Treasurer. Her many passions included: her grandchildren’s interests, avid reading, bird watching, cooking, cake decorating, gardening, sign language, brain teaser puzzles, listening to Gospel music, watching the Atlanta Braves and HGTV, painting, and writing.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Rachel Warden Smith (Allen), and Regina Warden Toland (Phillip); Grandchildren; Logan, Brynn and Brielle. Two’s precious Sister-in-Law; Lois Warden Whited and Shirley Jeanne Dunn as well as a ton of cousins. Predeceased by her parents and brothers, Otis Earl “Buddy” Dunn, and Orville Phillip “OP” Dunn, and her beloved Husband of 58 years,
