Palmer Large was born alongside the Cranes Nest River in Clincho, Virginia on December 4, 1941, just days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. He grew up during the Great Depression in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Jan 1960-Jan 1963.
Palmer was a quiet man who loved deeply. He provided an example of how to live a life that truly demonstrated I Corinthians 13:4-7: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” Regardless of the circumstance, he loved.
Palmer passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 9, 2025, at the age of 84. The special memories will forever remain in our hearts as we remember and miss this remarkable man.
