Patricia Greer Kelley, age 81, died Sunday December 17, 2023, at her home in Mableton, GA. Patricia, the eldest of 3 daughters, was born March 7, 1942 to Mr. Charles Stanford Greer and Mrs. Ellen Elsie Beatrice “Bea” Greer, both now deceased. Her sisters Sandra Greer Summers (Bill, deceased) and Ava Greer Madison (Joe) both live in the Summit, MS area.
Patricia graduated from McComb High School in 1960 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies with a minor in Psychology from Mississippi State College for Women in 1964. She then moved to the big city of Atlanta and took a job as a schoolteacher with Cobb County Public Schools. Shortly after moving to Atlanta, she met William Worth Kelley, an engineer with IBM. She charmed the “confirmed bachelor” into asking her to marry him. They were wed in McComb, MS on June 20, 1966, and enjoyed 38 years together until his passing in 2004.
After taking a break from teaching to raise her daughter, Alexis Kelley Brown (Barry), she worked for several years as a certified court reporter for quite a few prominent attorneys in the Atlanta area. She also sold fine jewelry at various stores in the Cobb County area.
Patricia always had an eye for beautiful jewelry, which she loved to collect and wear, even while serving ace’s or rushing the net in an ALTA AA tennis match. Whatever she undertook, she did so with passion and tenacity. She was a dedicated mother, wife, and friend. Patricia was a beautiful, intelligent, and charming lady who loved people and had a knack for making others feel special.
